Phi Phi Island.

Yea i bet u guys are wary of my Phuket posts by now eh? haha. poor you. coz guess what i got in store - more phuket pics.

yet this time round we're looking at Phi Phi Islands, mean towering rock cliffs that goes 90 degress straight down in the ocean. Where the tourism activities was totally wiped out during the tsunami disaster back in 2004. The remnants of the sea's wrath was still evident when i went there, but its already on its track to recovery with tourists flocking there like bees to honey. We saw the burial ground where more than 4000 bodies had to be buried there to contaminate aftermath diseases because its just too many to carried back to the mainland.

i discovered that 95% of the locals are Muslims. As such, food was never a problem. Tomyam rasanya beribu2 lemon variety kat sana. We got to know a cool Muslim guide, Ibrahim who was kind enough to let us in his humble abode, made of zinc walls and attap roof for dinner. such simple way of life always made me feel so inferior, because we simply just never will feel enough. i didnt shoot enough pics of the local village, and Ibrahim's house just out of respect..i didnt want to repay his kindness and hospitality with touristy mannerism.

what can i say...Phi Phi island is indeed, beautiful. we went to the smaller island, Koh Phi Phi Lae to visit the fishies and corals there (seperti aku akan bertukar menjadi power rangers yg ada kuasa ikan apabila jumpa air), and we were brought to this beautiful lagoon in the heart of Phi Phi Lae. I was mesmerized, lost for words. Whatever problems, achievements, struggle that we puny little humans might have in this world are certainly no match for God's creations. Subhanallah.

It was certainly a fulfilling moment, i had blood rushing to my head without doing anything and just sat on the longtail boat, marvelling at the tall cliffs and the turqoise water. it was almost the end of the day, so we could see the sun rays on the stones and it GLIMMERED. yeap, that was definitely an LOTR moment for me. i wondered, if Tolkien did lived on Asian soil, would he have sculptured the trilogy based on our own geography? or maybe he did, coz scientists discovered a new human species dubbed "hobbits" in west sumatera last year, huh?

ah, melalut ke cerita LOTR plak. ok in a nutshell, Koh Phi Phi mmg best, but the locals we've befriended were all raving on and on about Koh Lanta, so i think the next time round thats definitely on the destination list.

i hate times like these when i yearn for something that seems SO near, and yet SO out of reach.

dont we all?

Quote:

saw you cry today * The pain may fill you
I saw you shy away * The pain will not kill you

You made me smile today * You spoke with many voices
We travelled miles today * Shared expressions voiceless

It has to end * Living in your head * Without anything to numb you
Living on the edge * Without anything to numb you

It has to end to begin

Began an end today * Gave and got given
You made a friend today * Kindred soul cracked spirit

It has to end to begin

Living in your head * Without anything to numb you
Living on the edge * Without anything to numb you

It had to end to begin

You know, what make your photos nicer is the fact you shot those while you were vacationing. U know what I mean
ps: i do agree with your observation.
pps: I gave my thick Khalil Gibran book to a friend. Hmmm.. I think I'm going to Kinokuniya to see if I can get another copy

U know, I really like that.
I've posted. Would you care to guess which photo I feel strongest for?
